"My name is Joceline and I am 20 years old and I have had back and nerve problems for about 4 years and it was very painful the nerves in my neck and lower back making it very difficult for me to function and live an everyday life comfortably. My leg would go numb as well as my arm and my hand. I had trouble sleeping, as well as tossing and turning."
Hands On Physical Therapy believes in natural healing using gentle techniques that lead to healthy living, keeping active and aging well. I enjoy working with people who choose to be responsible for their own health and like to think outside the box.
Our bodies have a lifetime of history creating layer upon layer and the source of your pain may be in an entirely different area of your body including joints, cranial (skull) bones, your organs or a layer called fascia. Therefore, where you are experiencing pain is not always the source of the pain.
At your first treatment, a history is taken, you will be evaluated and then manual techniques are used to diagnosis where the source or sources of your pain/symptoms may be coming from. These techniques can range from myofascial release, cranial sacral rhythm, cranial direct and indirect techniques, visceral techniques, etc. This basically means that you will be diagnosed and treated with hands on techniques. Your first and subsequent treatments will consist of continual diagnosis and treatment with any appropriate home exercises or stretching program given as deemed appropriate.
Traditional physical therapy usually consists of a lot of exercise, exercise equipment and machines including ultrasound and electrical stimulation (e-stim) machines. with documentation during the session. At Hands On Physical Therapy you will see a treatment table and a therapist with diagnostic skills who uses hands-on treatments. Frequency of treatment at Hands On is less frequent, varying from one session to several sessions, but can be from one time a week to every other week or once a month. It all depends on you and where you are at with your physical condition.
